OnePlus is gearing up to launch its second smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch 2, at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 event on February 26. The company has already teased some of the features and design aspects of the device, but there are still some unknowns. However, a recent FCC listing has revealed one of the key specifications of the OnePlus Watch 2: its battery capacity.
As reported by MySmartPrice, the OnePlus Watch 2 has a 500 mAh battery, which is a significant improvement over the 402 mAh battery of the first-generation OnePlus Watch. The latter already boasted a decent battery life of up to 10 days on a single charge, so the OnePlus Watch 2 is expected to deliver even more impressive performance in this regard.
The OnePlus Watch 2’s 500 mAh battery also puts it ahead of some of its rivals, such as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6, which has a 425 mAh battery in its larger variant. The only smartwatch that beats the OnePlus Watch 2 in terms of battery capacity is the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, which has a 590 mAh battery.
The FCC listing also confirms that the OnePlus Watch 2 will support 10W charging, which is the same as the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and 5 Pro. This means that the OnePlus Watch 2 will not only have a long-lasting battery but also a fast-charging one.
Other features that the FCC certification reveals are the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity of the OnePlus Watch 2. The device will support Bluetooth in the frequency range of 2402 MHz to 2480 MHz and Wi-Fi on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands. These are standard features for most smartwatches nowadays, so there is nothing surprising here.
The OnePlus Watch 2 will come in two color options: black steel and radiant steel. The device will sport a 1.43-inch AMOLED display, which is slightly bigger than the 1.39-inch screen of the original OnePlus Watch. The device will also run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, which is the same processor that powers the Pixel Watch 2.
OnePlus has officially confirmed that the OnePlus Watch 2 will launch in India on February 26, along with the global launch at MWC 2024. The company has also opened pre-reservations for the device on its website, where interested customers can get a chance to win a free OnePlus Watch 2 or other prizes.
The OnePlus Watch 2 is the company’s second attempt at making a flagship smartwatch, after the OnePlus Watch, which was launched in April 2021. The OnePlus Watch received mixed reviews from critics and users, mainly due to its lack of app support and its proprietary operating system. It is not clear yet whether the OnePlus Watch 2 will run on Google’s Wear OS or its own OS, but some reports suggest that it will be based on Wear OS.
We will have to wait until February 26 to find out more details and the official price of the OnePlus Watch 2. Stay tuned for more updates and the full coverage of the launch event.
