Vivo is not giving up on the foldable smartphone market, despite some rumors suggesting otherwise. The Chinese tech giant is gearing up to launch two new models in its X Fold series, the X Fold 3 and the X Fold 3 Pro, later this month in China. The X Fold 3 Pro, in particular, is expected to be a premium device with impressive specifications and features.
According to a recent leak by Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster on Weibo, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the latest and most powerful processor from the American company (via PlayfulDroid). This will make it one of the first smartphones to use this chip, which promises improved performance, efficiency, and connectivity.
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will also boast a dual-screen design, with a 6.53-inch OLED cover display and an 8.03-inch foldable OLED main display. Both screens will have high resolutions of 2748 x 1172 pixels and 2408 x 2200 pixels, respectively, and support in-display fingerprint scanners.
As for the cameras, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will feature a quad-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, an 8-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. The primary and periscope cameras will also have optical image stabilization (OIS) for better stability and clarity. On the front, there will be two 16-megapixel selfie cameras, one on each display.
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro will not skimp on battery life either, as it will pack a huge 5,800 mAh battery that can be charged at blazing speeds. The device will support 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, which means it can be fully charged in less than an hour. It will also support 10W reverse wireless charging, which can be used to charge other devices wirelessly.
Other notable features of the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro include water resistance, glass back, IR blaster, dual speakers, and Zeiss optics. The device will run on Android 12 with OriginOS Ocean, Vivo’s custom skin, on top. The price of the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is still unknown, but it is likely to be on the higher end of the spectrum, given its flagship status and specifications.
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro is expected to be unveiled in China later this month, along with the Vivo X Fold 3, which will be a slightly toned-down version of the Pro model. Both devices are also expected to launch in other markets soon after, as Vivo aims to expand its presence in the foldable smartphone segment and compete with the likes of Samsung, Huawei, and Xiaomi.
