Apple‘s Vision Pro, the $3,499 spatial computer that promises to revolutionize the way we interact with digital content, is about to go on pre-order in four days. However, it seems that the company has quietly dropped a feature from the device that was previously showcased in its promotional video. The feature, called “Open Sky”, allowed users to transform their ceiling into a realistic sky simulation. But now, the feature is nowhere to be seen on the YouTube video titled “Introducing Vision Pro” or on the Vision Pro website.
The “Open Sky” feature was part of the Environments feature, which lets users customize their surroundings with different virtual scenes. The original video showed a user lying on their bed and looking up at the sky through the Vision Pro headset. The website also described the feature as “magically replace your ceiling with a clear, open sky.” But now, the video has been edited to remove the scene, and the website has changed the description to “turn your room into a personal movie theater with the Cinema Environment.”
Apple has possibly cut the Open Sky Environment feature that replaces your ceiling, from Apple Vision Pro.
Recently, Apple edited their “Introducing Apple Vision Pro” video on YouTube and their website, removing the Open Sky clip.

Why did Apple decide to scrap the “Open Sky” feature? There are several possible explanations, but none of them are confirmed by the company. One possibility is that the feature was too difficult to implement and did not work as well as expected. Another possibility is that the feature was not ready in time for the launch and might be added later with a VisionOS update. VisionOS is the operating system that powers the Vision Pro and enables its advanced features.
The Vision Pro is expected to be a game-changer in the field of augmented reality, which blends digital content with the real world. The device uses a combination of sensors, cameras, and lasers to create a 3D map of the user’s environment and project high-resolution images onto the user’s eyes. The device also supports hand gestures, voice commands, and eye tracking for intuitive control. The device can run various apps, games, and experiences that enhance the user’s productivity, creativity, and entertainment.
The pre-orders for the Vision Pro will start this Friday, January 19th at 5 am PST/8 am EST. To order the device online, users will need an iPhone or an iPad with Face ID, which is used to scan the user’s face and create a custom fit for the headset. The device will be available on February 2nd at select Apple Store locations starting at 8 am local time. Users who want to try the device before buying can book a demo appointment at the Apple Store website. The demo will last for 15 minutes and will give the users a glimpse of what the Vision Pro can do.
