Activision’s long-awaited mobile version of its popular battle royale game, Call of Duty: Warzone, is set to launch globally on March 21, 2024, after facing several postponements due to various reasons.
The US-based gaming giant, which was recently acquired by Microsoft in a $68.7 billion deal, had first announced its plans to bring Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile devices back in 2021, aiming for a May 2023 release. However, the project encountered multiple challenges, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the legal dispute with Apple over the App Store policies, and the integration with the new parent company.
As a result, the game was pushed back to November 2023, and then again to 2024, leaving many fans disappointed and frustrated. However, earlier this week, Activision finally confirmed a new and final release date for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, and assured that the game is ready to hit the market on March 21, 2024, on both iOS and Android platforms.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, which has been in “limited release” in select regions throughout the last year, will offer a similar gameplay experience as its console and PC counterparts, with some optimizations and adjustments for the mobile devices. The game will feature two large-scale maps: Verdansk, which can host up to 120 players, and Rebirth Island, which can accommodate 48 players. The game will also include several multiplayer maps, such as Shipment and Shoot House, and various modes, such as Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Search and Destroy.
One of the most appealing features of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is the shared progression system with the console and PC versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone, which are expected to launch later this year. This means that players can level up their weapons and XP across all platforms, and access their loadouts and customizations no matter where they play. Moreover, the game will offer shared Battle Pass progress with Modern Warfare III and Warzone on both console and PC, allowing players to move through tiers more efficiently and unlock rewards faster.
Speaking of rewards, fans of the franchise who haven’t pre-registered for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile yet, can still do so if they want to claim the following exclusive items upon worldwide launch:
– The Ghost “Condemned” Operator Skin, which gives a dark and menacing look to the iconic character from the Modern Warfare series.
– The M4 “Archfiend” and X12 “Prince of Hell” Weapon Blueprints, which are two powerful and unique variants of the assault rifle and the shotgun, respectively.
– The “Foe’s Flame” Vinyl, which adds a fiery effect to the vehicles in the game.
– The “Dark Familiar” Emblem, which displays a sinister creature on the player’s profile.
Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is expected to be one of the biggest and most ambitious mobile games ever, and a strong contender for the crown of the best battle royale game on the market. With its stunning graphics, smooth performance, cross-platform compatibility, and rich content, the game promises to deliver an immersive and thrilling experience to millions of players around the world.
