Samsung has launched its latest rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active5, in the US market after a month-long delay. The new device, which succeeds the Galaxy Tab Active4 Pro from 2022, boasts enhanced performance, durability, and security features for business users.
The Galaxy Tab Active5 is available in two variants: a regular model that costs $548.99 and a 5G-enabled model that costs $659. The regular model is sold as an Enterprise Edition, which offers exclusive benefits for businesses such as Knox Suite and an extended warranty.
The Galaxy Tab Active5 is powered by the Exynos 1380 chipset, which is based on a 5 nm process and offers faster and more efficient performance than the previous generation. The tablet also has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 1TB via a microSD card.
The tablet features an 8-inch TFT LCD screen with a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, which can resist scratches and cracks. The tablet also has an IP68 rating, which means it can survive dust and water exposure up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Additionally, the tablet is MIL-STD-810H certified, which means it can withstand drops from up to 1.8 meters on concrete.
The Galaxy Tab Active5 comes with an S Pen stylus, which is also IP68-rated and can be used to write, draw, and navigate on the screen. The tablet has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera, which can be used for taking photos, videos, and video calls.
The tablet has a 5,050 mAh battery, which can be replaced by the user if needed. The battery supports fast charging and wireless charging and can provide up to 15 hours of video playback. The tablet runs on Android 14, which is the latest version of Google’s operating system. The tablet also supports Samsung DeX, which allows the user to connect the tablet to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse for a desktop-like experience.
The Galaxy Tab Active5 Enterprise Edition comes with a one-year subscription to Knox Suite, which is a bundle of Samsung’s security and management solutions for businesses. The tablet also has a three-year product lifecycle support plan, which ensures timely software updates and security patches. Moreover, the tablet has an extra year of warranty on top of the standard one-year warranty offered by Samsung.
