A new foldable smartphone that combines the design of Porsche and the technology of Honor has been unveiled, but it will not be cheap. The Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design is a result of the collaboration between the two brands that was announced last year.
The phone has the same specifications as the standard Magic V2, but it has a unique design that features the Flyline signature of Porsche. It also has a massive 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, which makes sense for such a premium device. The phone only comes in one color option, which is the Porsche Agate Grey.
The phone’s body is made of sports car fiberglass, according to Honor, but this could be just a marketing gimmick. Nevertheless, the phone stands out from other foldable phones with its sleek and elegant appearance.
The Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design has a 7.92-inch OLED inner display with a resolution of 2344 x 2156 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. It also has a 6.43-inch OLED external display with a resolution of 2376 x 1060 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone’s dimensions are 156.7 x 74 x 9.9mm when folded and 156.7 x 145.4 x 4.7mm when unfolded. It weighs about 234g with the battery included.
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, which is not the latest chipset from Qualcomm. Honor opted for the previous generation processor instead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which is expected to power most of the flagship phones in 2024.
The phone also runs on MagicOS 7.2, which is based on Android 13. This means that the phone does not have the latest version of Android, which is Android 14. Honor has not confirmed if the phone will receive the Android 14 update in the future.
The phone has a triple camera setup on the back, which is the same as the regular Magic V2. It consists of a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 20-megapixel telephoto camera. The phone also has a 16-megapixel selfie camera on the front.
The phone has a 5,000 mAh battery, which supports Honor’s 66WW SuperCharge technology. This allows the phone to charge from 0% to 100% in about 40 minutes. The phone also supports wireless charging and reverse wireless charging.
The Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design is currently only available in China, where it costs 15,999 yuan, which is equivalent to €2.050 or $2,250. This makes it one of the most expensive foldable phones in the market, along with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Huawei Mate X2. Honor has not announced if the phone will be launched in other regions or not.
