Nothing, the company founded by former OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, is gearing up to launch its third smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2a). The device is expected to be a more budget-friendly version of the Nothing Phone (2), which was released in November 2023. A new leak has revealed some of the key specifications and features of the Nothing Phone (2a), along with a clear look at its design.
The leak comes from Yogesh Brar, a well-known tipster who has a track record of revealing accurate information about upcoming smartphones. Brar shared two photos of the late-stage PVT (Production Validation Test) unit of the Nothing Phone (2a) on his Twitter account, along with a list of the claimed specs. According to Brar, the Nothing Phone (2a) will feature a 6.4-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The display will also have an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication.
The Nothing Phone (2a) will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chip, which is a 6nm octa-core processor with integrated 5G support. The device will have 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, with no option for expansion via a microSD card slot. The device will run on Android 14 out of the box, with a stock-like user interface and minimal bloatware.
The Nothing Phone (2a) will sport a dual-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 50MP main sensor and a 12MP ultrawide sensor. The camera module will be placed horizontally on the top left corner of the device, unlike the vertical placement on the Nothing Phone (2). The device will also have a 16MP selfie camera on the front, housed in the punch-hole cutout.
The device will have a 4,500mAh battery, which is slightly smaller than the 5,000mAh battery on the Nothing Phone (2). However, the device will support 30W fast charging via a USB-C port, which can charge the device from 0 to 50% in 25 minutes. The device will also have a 3.5mm headphone jack, a rarity in modern smartphones.

The Nothing Phone (2a) will have a unique design with a transparent back panel that reveals the internal components of the device. The device will also have a Glyph light system, which is a set of LED lights that can change colors and patterns according to the user’s preferences. The Glyph lights will be less prominent on the Nothing Phone (2a) than on the Nothing Phone (2), as the device will have only two lights on the back instead of four.
The Nothing Phone (2a) is expected to be launched in March 2024, with a price tag of around $400. The device will compete with other budget-friendly smartphones, such as the Google Pixel 7a and the Samsung Galaxy A54, which offer similar features and performance. The device will be available in two color options: black and white.
Nothing has confirmed any of the details revealed by the leak, so take them with a pinch of salt. However, the company is likely to announce the Nothing Phone (2a) soon, as it has already teased the device on its official website and social media accounts. Stay tuned for more updates on the Nothing Phone (2a) and other Nothing products.
