OnePlus Open gets a new update that boosts performance, camera, and battery life The OnePlus Open, which we crowned as the best foldable phone of 2023 earlier this month, is getting even better with a new software update. The OnePlus Open is a book-style foldable device that features a 7.82-inch internal display and a 6.31-inch external display, and runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The device launched with Android 13 out of the box, and many users were hoping that the new update would bring Android 14 to their phones.
Unfortunately, that is not the case. The new update, which has the firmware version CPH2551_13.2.0.203(EX01), is still based on Android 13. However, it does bring some significant enhancements to the device. The update is 190.66MB in size, and it comes with Oxygen OS 13.2 and the December 2023 security patch.
According to a Telegram group called OnePlus Open: The Chatroom (via AndroidAuthority), the update includes the following changes:
System
Enhances system stability and performance. Optimizes the touch control algorithm for a smoother user experience. Lowers power consumption when the device is in standby mode or when using certain apps.
Communication
Increases network stability and compatibility.
Camera
Resolves a shutter lag issue that could happen when the Nightscape mode is disabled. Resolves an issue where some camera functions, such as Retouch, Filters, Resolution, and Flash, might not work properly when tapped. Resolves an issue where the main screen might freeze when using the Dual Preview feature and the rear camera for selfies. The update should improve the battery life, the touchscreen responsiveness, and the camera quality of the OnePlus Open. If you own a OnePlus Open, you should look for the update notification on your phone. The update might not be as big as the 508.98MB update that was released last month, but it still brings some important improvements that you will appreciate.
