The vivo X100 series, a flagship smartphone lineup from the Chinese company vivo, has finally arrived in Europe after its launch in China in November and its global debut in December. However, European customers may be surprised by the high price tag of the X100 Pro, the premium model of the series.
According to Notebookcheck, vivo has revealed the pricing details of the X100 Pro for the European market, but has not yet listed the device on any of its official websites. The X100 Pro will cost €1,199 ($1298), which is considerably higher than the prices in other regions.
For instance, when the X100 series was released in India, the X100 was priced at around $770, while the X100 Pro was priced at around $1083. The difference in prices may be attributed to various factors such as taxes, logistics, and market demand, but it may also deter some potential buyers who are looking for a more affordable flagship device.
The X100 Pro is only available in Asteroid Black color and one configuration option, with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It is powered by the Dimensity 9300 chipset, which is MediaTek’s most advanced flagship processor, capable of competing with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the latest offering from Qualcomm that powers the Galaxy S24 series.
The X100 Pro boasts a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It also has a triple rear camera system, consisting of a 50 MP main camera with OIS, a 50 MP ultrawide camera with autofocus, and a 50 MP periscope lens with 4.3x optical zoom and OIS.
The device has a 5,400 mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, and runs on Android 14. It also features an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, and IP68 water and dust resistance.
Despite its impressive specifications, the X100 Pro may face some challenges in terms of software support, especially when compared to other flagship devices from Google, Samsung, and other brands. Vivo has promised that the X100 Pro will receive three major Android OS updates from Android 14 onwards, and has also offered a three-year warranty for the device.
However, this may not be enough to satisfy some customers who expect longer and more frequent software updates. For example, Google has announced that its Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro will receive 7 years of support, including major OS updates and security patches. Samsung has also made a similar commitment for its Galaxy S24 series, which will also receive 7 years of support.
The X100 Pro is the only model of the X100 series that vivo has decided to sell in Europe, indicating that the company is focusing on the high-end segment of the market. However, it remains to be seen how well the device will perform in terms of sales and customer satisfaction, given its high price and competition from other brands.
