X, the social media app formerly known as Twitter, has undergone a radical transformation since it was acquired by Elon Musk in 2022. The billionaire entrepreneur has ambitious plans to turn X into an “everything app” that can handle all your needs, from banking and calling to job hunting and video streaming.
One of the upcoming features that X users can look forward to is the ability to resume long videos from where they left off. Musk revealed this feature in a reply to a user who asked for it, saying that it would be available soon. This feature would be similar to YouTube’s resume playback function, which lets you continue watching a video even if you close the app or switch devices. However, unlike YouTube, which offers this feature for free, X might charge a fee for this convenience. We will have to wait and see how X implements this feature and whether it will be exclusive to premium users.
X has been adding more and more features and updates for its premium users, who pay a monthly or yearly fee to access them. These include audio and video calls, which are now compatible with both iOS and Android devices. X also launched two new premium plans at the end of last year, bringing the total number of subscription options to three:

Basic: This plan costs $3 per month or $32 per year. It gives you features such as post editing, longer posts, encrypted DMs, and video downloads. However, it does not remove ads or give you a verified badge.
Premium: This plan costs $8 per month or $84 per year. It includes all the features of Basic and also boosts your replies in the platform’s algorithm.
Premium+: This plan costs $16 per month or $168 per year. It offers all the features of Premium, plus a completely ad-free experience on X and early access to Grok, the new AI chatbot that X introduced this year.
Grok is one of the most innovative features that X has to offer. It is an artificial intelligence chatbot that can converse with you on any topic, from sports and politics to science and philosophy. Grok can also help you with tasks such as booking flights, ordering food, or finding information. Grok is powered by OpenAI, the research company co-founded by Musk, and uses natural language processing and deep learning to generate realistic and engaging responses. Grok is currently available only to Premium+ users, but Musk has hinted that it might be opened to more users in the future.
X is clearly trying to become more than just a social media app. It is aiming to be a super-app that can cater to all your needs and interests. Whether it can succeed in this endeavor remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: X is not the same app as Twitter anymore. It is a new and different beast, and it is constantly evolving.
