With only a few days left in 2023, Honor has surprised the smartphone industry by launching a new phone without much fanfare – the Honor X50 Pro. The phone was expected to debut in January, but it seems that Honor has decided to release it earlier.
Honor is currently preparing for its big event on January 10, where it will unveil the Magic 6 series and the Magic OS 8.0. The company has not made any official announcement about the X50 Pro, as it is aimed at the offline market and will be sold mainly in physical stores (via Gizmochina).
The X50 Pro comes in two colors: Green and Black, and offers a single RAM/storage option: 12/256GB for a price of around $425.
The phone features a 6.78-inch curved OLED screen with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate – a smooth and immersive experience. The screen has a 10-bit color depth and supports 1920Hz PWM dimming, which reduces eye strain in low-light situations. PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) dimming works by turning the screen on and off very quickly, and the eyes perceive this as a lower brightness level.
The phone has a circular camera setup on the back, which includes a 108MP main camera and a 2MP macro camera. The front camera is an 8MP sensor for selfies. The phone has a thickness of 8.45mm and a weight of 192g.
According to reports, Honor is using a downclocked version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor on the device, which is still a powerful and efficient chip. The phone also has a large vapor cooling system, which prevents the phone from overheating and ensures optimal performance. The phone runs on Magic OS 7.2 based on Android 13, which offers a smooth and customized user interface. The phone has a 5800mAh battery, which supports 35W fast charging.
To add to the confusion, there are rumors that the X50 Pro may have a different name for the online market – the Honor X50 GT. This phone could be launched online on January 6th, with the same specifications as the X50 Pro. Honor has not confirmed or denied these rumors yet.
