In a surprising twist, the much-awaited HyperOS update that is supposed to bring a revamped user interface and enhanced features to nearly 100 Xiaomi and Redmi devices in the first half of 2024, may not include some of the models that were initially expected to get it sooner rather than later (via MySmartPrice).
According to X/Twitter tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, “All the phones in the Redmi Note 13 series will come with MIUI 14 based on Android 13, both in India and globally. All the phones will also get three Android updates (up to Android 16) and four years of security updates. However, these phones will not be eligible for Xiaomi HyperOS anytime soon”.
Xiaomi is gearing up to launch the Redmi Note 13 series at an event on January 4, 2024.
The Redmi Note 13 series is expected to offer some impressive hardware and features to the users. For instance, the Pro model will sport a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen, a 200MP primary camera, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 2 processor, and a 5,100mAh battery. The Pro+ model will have the same specifications, except for a Dimensity 7200 Ultra chipset and an IP68 water and dust resistance. The prices for the European market are €450 for the Pro and €500 for the Pro+. The phones will be available in black, blue, and white colors, with a 12/512GB RAM option confirmed so far.

The standard Redmi Note 13 5G will feature a Dimensity 6080 SoC, while all the models will have a 16MP selfie camera. The Pro and Pro+ models will also have two more cameras on the back, an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro. The battery capacity will vary from 5,000mAh to 5,100mAh with support for fast charging, and all the devices will have an in-display fingerprint scanner and an IP68 rating for durability.
The Redmi Note 13 series is likely to compete with other mid-range and premium smartphones in the market, such as the Samsung Galaxy A52s 5G, the OnePlus Nord 2 5G, and the Realme GT Master Edition. The HyperOS update, which is rumored to bring a new design, animations, icons, widgets, and more to the Xiaomi and Redmi devices, may give them an edge over their rivals in the future. However, for now, the users of the Redmi Note 13 series will have to wait and see if they will ever get the HyperOS update or not.
