Snapchat, the popular social media app, has been adding more and more AI features to its platform, following the trend of other tech giants. One of its AI products is an AI chatbot, which faced criticism for its possible privacy issues for children.
Snap also introduced a feature that lets its subscribers create Snaps with just a click of the “AI” button on the viewfinder. This means that users do not have to use their own creativity to make content. However, it also makes posting on Snapchat much more convenient for Premium users.
The latest AI feature that Snap launched quietly this week is the “Custom Bitmoji Pets.” According to SocialMediaToday, Snap is already offering AI pets to Snapchat+ subscribers. Jonah Manzano, a Twitter user, posted some screenshots of these new Bitmoji pets created by AI.
The feature allows users to ask the AI to make a digital pet for them, which will show up on the Snap Map with them. The only part that uses AI is the making of the pet, so users should not expect their pets to interact with them or answer their questions.
The new feature also enables users’ friends on Snapchat to see them and their digital pets on the Snap Map. This seems like a feature that was not really requested by anyone, but was delivered anyway.
