Honor has announced that its latest flagship devices, the Magic 6 series and the Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design, will make their global debut on February 25, ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, which will start on February 26.
The Magic 6 series consists of two models, the Magic 6 and the Magic 6 Pro, which feature a 6.76-inch OLED display, a 50-megapixel main camera, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. The Magic 6 Pro also has a 3D ToF sensor for depth sensing and face recognition. Both phones are powered by the Kirin 9000E chipset, which supports 5G connectivity and 66W fast charging. The Magic 6 series also boasts a unique design with a hexagonal camera module and a gradient color scheme.
The Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design is a premium variant of the Magic V2, which is Honor’s first foldable smartphone. The Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design has a 8-inch inner OLED display and a 6.45-inch outer OLED display, both with 120Hz refresh rate. The phone also has a 50-megapixel main camera, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 12-megapixel telephoto camera, and a 3D ToF sensor. The phone is powered by the Kirin 9000 chipset, which supports 5G connectivity and 55W fast charging. The Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design has a distinctive design with a leather back cover and a Porsche logo.
Honor has not disclosed the availability and pricing of the phones for the global market, but it is expected that they will be higher than the Chinese prices. The Magic 6 series was launched in China in December 2023, with the Magic 6 starting at 3,999 yuan ($620) and the Magic 6 Pro starting at 5,199 yuan ($800). The Magic V2 RSR Porsche Design was launched in China in January 2024, with a price tag of 14,999 yuan ($2,250).
Honor, which was formerly a sub-brand of Huawei, became an independent company in November 2020, after Huawei sold it to a consortium of Chinese companies. Honor has since regained access to Google services and other key components that were restricted by the US sanctions on Huawei. Honor aims to compete with other major smartphone brands in the global market, such as Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, and OnePlus.
